Psychoanalytic Perspectives and Cases
A one-year case conference for therapists sampling different analytic schools of thought. Participants will use four different analytic perspectives to consider and deepen their therapy cases. The following will be explored through reading, discussion and case presentations:
Ego Psychology – Understand case material from the perspective of drives and defenses, and develop techniques to productively address maladaptive defenses
Object Relations – Explore how the internal world of self and object representations are at play in your work
Self Psychology – Learn how to address the “self” problems involved in self-esteem and self-worth that interfere with relationships and lead to self-defeating behaviors
Relational – Learn how here-and-now relationship moments with your patients can be the “engine of change” in your treatments
This is a full year class. Participants must register for both terms. Classes will be held Wednesdays from 7-8:30pm, and most classes will be held via Zoom on your computer or smart device. Participants will meet in person together at the start of each segment of the course.
