MCPP Board of Directors Meeting Minutes February 2020

Attendance:

Peter Wood, Sonya Freiband, Lisa Larson, Eve Avrin, Karen Weber, Mary Nowack

President’s Report—Peter

Listserve : A discussion occurred about what can appear on the list serve. No advertising or

self promotion. Meetings can be listed but not if they conflict with our activities. A

submission must be accepted by MCPP and be in line with our mission and promote

Psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The organization president and training

person will oversee the list serve.

Visiting Professor: It was discussed and decided to reduce the fee for the dinner and lecture

To $30 for members and $10 for students. It will be brought up in class and a request will be

made that students bring a friend.

Administrative Assistant: A list of tasks will be created for her.

For the upcoming election two openings exist, one for president and one for president elect.

Brain Ashin is not able to continue in his position due to other commitments.

Past Presidents Report—Sonya

The banquet will be held at Mediterrano Restaurant 2900 S State St. Ann Arbor

Certificates will be given to those taking the class. Music for the banquet was discussed with no final decision made.

Two people have requested supervision. One person is seeing Peter Wood in supervision and the other person is not yet in supervision.

Financial Report –Eve:

Cash flow and balance report for the last month from MCPP bank accounts, paypal and Schwab

Portfolio investments was distributed. The financial picture of MCPP looks good.

Membership—Lisa:

Membership is 70 to 75 members. The new assistant sent out emails to those who have not yet

Paid dues for this year. A letter is to be sent and people will go through the  list of people to check whether  a letter should be sent to them as any returned letter costs MCPP .55 cents.

Education and Training—Sonya:

The class is going well and two segments remain. A request for certification for someone to become a psychoanalytic psychotherapist was discussed.  Sonya and Peter will meet to see if he meets the requirements.

Programs—David was not present and there was nothing to add.

Website—Reena Liberman is training Karen Weber to be able to take care of the website.

New Business—

A group consultation class was discussed and it was agreed that it isn’t psychoanalytic enough

to be given.
