MCPP Board of Directors Meeting Minutes February 2018

University Club

East Lansing, MI

February 18, 2018

9:00-10:05 am

Present: Sonya Freiband, David Freiband, Lisa Larson, Margaret Sweet, Michael Rudy, Ralph Hutchison, Beth Waiess, Karen Weber

Secretary: K Weber

Minutes of the January meeting were approved.

President: Sonya Freiband asked about running an advertisement for the Allen Creek Preschool fund raiser dinner. Typically we have had a half page advertisement for $125.00. Karen Baker asked if MCPP would put one in this year and she offered to design it. Board approved. Debra Hutton can report on the yearly banquet at the next meeting in April. There will be no meeting in March due to the symposium.

Elections: The majority of board positions come up for reelection next year. The board agreed to discuss ways to make adjustments so that positions for reelection will become vacant more evenly.

Education and Training: The eight week course on Sexuality and Gender is planned to begin April 4, 2018. Peg Sweet reported that a small ad-hoc group met to discuss the training program and ways to revitalize it. Peg received some interest from a few certified analysts to teach but there are not enough resources to support a new cohort of candidates. The group discussed ideas about creating a one year certificate program. Beth mentioned that in the past there have been specialty classes offered (such as a theory or dreams). Faculty could possibly be found by asking individuals to teach their interests and particular expertise. The board was very responsive to this idea. There will be further discussion.

Programs: David Freiband will send out more emails promoting the March Symposium. Others agreed to help promote it by contacting colleagues and disseminating brochures. In addition, emails will be sent to the whole community to announce the visiting professor, Tony Bass.

Treasurer: Keri Warren emailed her report. There were no additional comments.

Candidate Representative: Michael Rudy reported that the case conference class has been cancelled. There was a discussion about possibly offering a refund and partial credit for those who attended four of the sessions before it was cancelled.

Membership: 63 members have joined or renewed. Lisa Larson suggested sending personal emails to former members encouraging them to rejoin.

Meeting adjourned at 10:05 am. Next meeting is April 15th. Any communication can be handled via email.

Note: it is MCPP policy that Board meetings are open to all MCPP members. Priority is given to Board members to address issues, but all MCPP members may speak at meetings, time permitting.
