Minutes from March 19 will be approved at the next board meeting pending revisions.

Treasurer

E. Avrin reports that

MCPP is financially healthy.

Programs

Miriam Goldstein reports that we have speakers for the entire 2023-24 academic year. Looking for speakers for 2024-25 depends on future plans of MCPP. David Freiband will be resigning his Program involvement effective May 2024.

The renewal of APA’s approval to offer psychology continuing education is coming up.

Membership 

Linda Young and Lisa Larson report that the new policy of non-member payment for Sunday programs has been implemented effective with today’s presentation.

New Business

Miriam Goldstein has been requested by today’s speaker to provide her with continuing education credits for teaching. Discussion followed. Miriam will research the state’s requirements and provide the board with recommendations.

Sonya Freiband provided an overview of the history of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Council Foundation, its purpose and composition of its board. The Foundation’s current president is resigning, and the Foundation seeks assistance from the MCPP Board in recruiting a new president. Also, other officers will be stepping down in the future. A write-up of officer duties will be provided to MCPP membership in hopes of recruiting replacements. The Foundation is facing possible dissolution otherwise.

The board considered the format for the banquet on June 3, observing that in previous years it has recognized members for various accomplishments. Questions were raised regarding who will address the attendees.  Details of the program are being worked out by the banquet committee.

The board continued discussing guidelines for listserv usage with the goal of compiling these into a statement for distribution to listserv members.

The next Board meeting will be on May 21.
